An unpatented mining claim is a particular parcel of federal land, valuable for a specific mineral deposit or deposits. It is a parcel for which an individual has asserted a right of possession. The right is restricted to the extraction and development of a mineral deposit. This means: you are leasing, from the government, the right to extract minerals. No land ownership is conveyed
Lode Claims
Placer minerals come from lodes. Lode claims cover what is still in the rock, what is in the mines? With a lode claim you have the right to go in and break out chunks of ore, crush them up and then extract the gold. I feel that it?s a better value to own the right to the source of the gold, rather than to fish for what has washed out. There is value in placer claims, but with so many limitations I feel that the prudent miner or prospector goes for a lode, and not what is on the ground. All of the big mines that have a proven longevity are a testament to this. Also, note that the BLM gives more rights to lode claims. The BLM will allow anyone to place a lode claim on someone else?s placer claim, but not the other way around. This is another benefit of a lode claim over a placer claim.

The Golden Sun lode mining claim is located in the historically rich mining district of Gold Point, NV. The mine lies a few miles NW of Gold Point NV { an active ghost town http://www.goldpointghosttown.com/ } on a major road then a good off road to the mine. High profile or 4x4 required could also be reach by foot from main road a short hike.
Nevada is a mining friendly state.
They require certain permits
But these permits are easier to get
Than the permits in California or Oregon.

Historically the mines in this area have produced silver and gold, including this mine. However records of the area do not detail what each claim or digging produced if any at all. What is told is a general assessment of the entire gold field area. This includes many past and existing mines. Pay the xxxx Maintenance Fee of $140 per lode claim, mill site, /or tunnel site. For placer claims only, you must pay $140 per every 20 acres or portion thereof *, on or before September 1, xxxx.
*NOTE---On July 27, xxxx, maintenance fees for placer mining claims were increased from $140 per claim to $140 per 20 acres or portion thereof. An example of the xxxx maintenance fee payment on an 80 acre placer claim is $560 and if the placer claim contains 80.25 acres you must pay $700.
No curable notices will be issued, or extra time allowed for insufficient xxxx Maintenance Fee payments.

File a xxxx Maintenance Fee Waiver Certification, Form xxxx-2 (commonly referred to as a Small Miner?s Waiver) on or before September 1, xxxx. There is no charge for filing a Small Miner?s Waiver

Because you file the xxxx Small Miner?s Waiver, you must ALSO file the following:

For placer and lode claims listed on the Small Miner?s Waiver, you must file a xxxx Affidavit of Assessment Work (also known as a Proof of Labor), along with the $10 processing fee per claim. Please note that you do not have to Notarize your Assessment Form for the BLM. Check with your individual counties if you need to Notarize your Assessment Form.
For mill or tunnel sites listed on the Small Miner?s Waiver, you must file a xxxx Notice of Intent to Hold or, write on the Small Miner?s Waiver that it serves as a Notice of Intent to Hold for the mill or tunnel site listed on the waiver and include the $10 processing fee per site.
We highly recommend that you file your Affidavit of Assessment Work and/or the Notice of Intent to Hold at the same time you file your xxxx Small Miner?s Waiver.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: For those who filed a xxxx Small Miner?s Waiver last year (by September 1, xxxx), you must file your xxxx Affidavit of Assessment Work on or before December 30, xxxx, regardless of whether you pay the $140 Maintenance Fee for xxxx.
The above rules will apply for the filing year of Sept. 1,xxxx check with BLM for any changes prior to that filing time.
